6th Grade Tdap Clinics

The Ohio Department of Health recently announced changes to the school immunization schedule.  These changes will require all students entering the seventh grade to have a tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) or a tetanus and diphtheria (Td) booster beginning in the 2010-2011 school year.

In an effort to make compliance with this new schedule easier, the Pike County General Health District will be offering Tdap vaccinations for sixth grade students at all Pike County Schools at no cost.  These clinics will take place on April 28, 2010 and April 29, 2010.  If you have a child in the sixth grade, you will be receiving a packet from their school that includes an introductory letter, 2010 Tdap Vaccination Consent form, a press release from the Ohio Department of Health, and a Vaccine Information Statement.  You must complete the form and return it to your child’s school for them to receive the vaccination.  If you have any questions, you can call the Pike County General Health District at (740)947-7721.
